Three permaculture designs were developed and implemented by participants BLOOM PDC which took place in Bozevce in November
Re:habitus
VCV dissemination activity includes permaculture design, introduction to permaculture workshop and general assembly combined with preparation of the land. Since last year, VCV has been managing a piece of land in the village Donji Tavankut, north of Serbia. The main idea of the place is to create a safe and regenerative estate for youth, youth workers and activists.
Student protests in Serbia, which were triggered by the tragedy in Novi Sad, inspired VCV to initiate space for community and recovery from burn out. PDC in Bozevce was a booster for the first permaculture design which included all the elements of analysis, interviews, needs assessments and initial preparations. Detailed preparation of the permaculture design, info-meetings with different groups, including workshops on introduction to permaculture were organised.
Growing Resilience
Revitalisation of an orchard through permaculture design and volunteer actions was organised as PDC dissemination activity by the participants of GAIA Germany e.V.

The activity included preparation of the design, preparation of the orchard for planting of new trees (native variety resistance to heat and drought stress while producing high-quality fruit) and organisation of the community event which took place on 11th of April: Gemeinsames Mittagessen & Input: Was ist eigentlich Permakultur?

Water management in times of climate crisis
A joint permaculture design by participants of GAIA Kosovo and VCV Serbia. The design was based on the initial idea developed during the PDC, but strictly focused on water flows, water losses and solutions for catching and storing it. The activity included a one-week group design process, implementation of interventions on the land within the ESC team, educational workshops during the Youth Exchange, and introduction to permaculture during GAIA’s gathering on the occasions of 16th anniversary.
The implementation of the design improved management of gray water on the permaculture estate used and managed by GAIA, it improved storage capacities through land interventions and soil building and as such provides practical examples for climate change adaptation and increase of community resilience.

BLOOM PDC – Permaculture Design Certificate Course for Youth Workers is supported by JUGEND für Europa and Erasmus+ Programme, and coordinated by GAIA Germany e.V.
