Children’s Nature Summer Camps
This will be the 3rd summer that GAIA is organising environmental summer camps for children from the local community. Our summer camps provide a unique opportunity for around 40 children to learn about nature and environmentally responsible behaviour. The activities include diverse outdoor workshops on biodiversity, camping and the Leave no trace principles, orientation and so forth. Free time is used for sports, games, art and excursions to the mountains. There will be two age groups (7 to 10 and 11 to 14), each in the camp for 5 days, including one day excursion to the mountains. Activities are taking place from 9 am to 4 pm, and children sleep at home. One or two overnight stays might be organised with the older group if they show interest.

Volunteers will be involved in the following tasks:
- Preparation of the workshops
- Supporting facilitation of workshops
- Organizing the space and materials
- Setting up meals for children and cleaning up
- Ensuring safety for the children
- Supporting realization of the excursion
- Maintaining the space
- Daily reflection and evaluation
In principle, it will be possible for the volunteers to run workshops on their own, and with the support of main facilitators.
In order to be part of this volunteering team, you should:
- have some experience in organizing outdoor educational activities with children or youth
- good communication skills,

Accommodation & food
Volunteers will be accommodated at GAIA’s property in Bozevce village. The accommodation is organized in a house with 4 rooms, a bathroom, a small kitchen and composting toilets. Transport to the location where the activities will take place will be organised every day. Volunteers will spend around 7 hours at the venue of the environmental camps. During activities, we will arrange two meals for volunteers and children. Other meals will be prepared by the volunteers and GAIA staff in Bozevce. Food will be vegetarian with a vegan option, mainly from seasonal and local ingredients. Volunteers should take sleeping bags for 1-2 nights of camping with children.
This volunteering team is financially supported through the European Solidarity Corps programme, and coordinated by Veles from Slovenia. All the costs of food, accommodation, travel, insurance and materials will be covered by the project. In addition, volunteers will receive pocket money, 6 EUR per day.
